The Manhattan Beach Education Foundation
Celebrating teamwork and support!
The Annual Appeal is underway and runs through January 31, 2010.
MBEF was established in 1983 to improve Manhattan Beach public schools. It pays for teachers and other educators whose positions the State of California does not fund but our parents and educators consider necessary for a quality education.
2009-2010 MBEF Annual Appeal
Thanks to MBEF donations last year, 84 professional that make a difference to our kids are still here. If we work together again, we can meet the needs of our kids at Robinson for 2010-2011. We need to raise money one school year in advance to work within the budgetary guidelines of MBUSD. This appeal will set the stage for programs and teachers in the fall of 2010. Give today. $1000.00 per child. It is up to all of us.

There is only one MBEF Annual Appeal this year so the goal is high: to surpass our previous record of $4.1 million. Together we can meet this goal if every family is able to make a contribute. Please take a moment to visit us at www.mbef.org to learn about the payment options and the latest news on the Appeal. Our district will continue to maintain it's high standards and is well managed – by our board of trustees and our administration. We have great teachers and staff. And we have parents who understand that the donations raised through MBEF are critical to maintaining our high quality schools.
Long-term results of MBEF grants
As a result of MBEF grants to fund Science teachers at the elementary level, Star testing scores in 5th grade Science have improved. Robinson was the last elementary school to build their science lab but saw the greatest percentage gain. Teamwork with Robinson PTSA to build and supply Robinson’s Science Lab and MBEF grants that pay for our Science teacher is just one example of how your donations work for the long-term.

MBEF Mission Statement
The Manhattan Beach Education Foundation provides a means for schools, individuals, and businesses to work together to help children achieve their potential in an increasingly complex, interesting and challenging world by providing the resources for a broad, engaging curriculum beyond what can be offered through public school funding.
The MBEF Board meets the second Tuesday of each month at 7:30pm at the Education Center Board Room, 325 S. Peck Avenue in Manhattan Beach. The public is invited to attend.
Private donations needed to support our schools
California's per pupil funding from the state of about $5,631 is far below the national average of $8,287. The state continues to make cuts to education and as state resources shrink, your contribution to the schools grows. It is clear to us that local revenue, and the local control it allows, will be critical to the future success of our schools and our children. Thank you for your continued support.
