Walt Disney Concert Hall

Robinson Families are invited to share in the experience of Walt Disney Concert Hall's family friendly concerts that make symphonic music come alive for children.   The Toyota Symphonies for Youth series features a set of 4 concerts created especially for children age five to eleven and their families. These multi-disciplinary concerts showcase the Los Angeles Philharmonic, and introduce the world of classical music to children through imaginative and original storytelling in a theatrical setting. Each TSFY concert is a dramatic presentation, conducted by a Dudamel Conducting Fellow and staged by theater artists.

Before every concert, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., Walt Disney Concert Hall becomes a musical playground with hands-on art making, musical activities, dance, and storytelling or theater.  Workshops take place in the lobby spaces one hour prior to the performance.

Come for: The chance to experience a live orchestra through the fantasy of theater, in some of the most exciting music ever written.

And more: Each performance is preceded by a choice of art workshops, including an instrument petting zoo, dance, and more starting at 10am.

This year, the Toyota Symphonies for Youth discovers beautiful music and has four concert dates available for ticket purchase at a discount to the original ticket price (click the links below for further details on each concert).  Tickets are $20 each when paying with cash or check, or they are $21 per ticket if paying through PayPal link.  20 Tickets are available for each concert.

You must complete two important steps in the following order to ensure you get tickets to the event(s):

STEP 1 - Click on the below Sign Up Genius and request tickets. You have to do this step first before paying for your tickets. This will tell you if their are tickets still available.

Maker Faire

Friday, May 1, 2015 -
8:30am to 12:00pm

Robinson Elementary is hosting its first ever Maker Faire (formally, "I am a Scientist Day").

We are looking for community partners, parents and local citizens who can share their experiences as a Maker.  This means hands on projects and story sharing with kids in a series of morning workshops that bring careers in science, technology, engineering, art and math (STEAM) to the classroom.

Maker-related events and activities can inspire kids to pursue careers in these areas and possibly take their creations to the next level and become entrepreneurs.

Please contact Helen Spiridellis or call her at 310-686-9277.

HELLO MARVELOUS RIPTIDE FAMILIES!!

Our 80's themed Parent Party (BY TICKETS HERE) is rapidly approaching (Saturday, October 14, 2017), and soon we will be launching this school year’s PTSA PARTY BOOK online!  It’s also our way of building community amongst families with the class, grade and the entire school.

Are you often organizing group play dates, or outings with other families?  Do you have a talent that you could share by teaching others?  Do you own a business that has a location or service that a party could be themed around?  If so, WE NEED YOU!!

The Goal:
Coordinate a handful of families to host a fun, easy, inexpensive party.

Here are some party examples:

Father/Son Flag Football in the park
Mother/Son Bowling  Party
Guys game night
4th Grade Pizza Party at Roundtable
Parent and Child Cooking/Baking Party
Home Made Christmas and or Hanukkah gift making party
Kinder Valentine card making party
Cinco De Mayo party
Parent/Child Walk Street Ping Pong Tourney

The Commitment:
The more families that are willing to help, the easier it will be.  If each grade level has 2 (kid-geared) parties and 2 (adult) parties it would be FABULOUS!!!

Our school is filled with amazing, fun families.  Let’s take the time to grow together and become an even stronger Riptide community!
